Close-up of Wasatch Front and Lake Bonneville

This is a illustration of the extent of Lake Bonneville at its highest level, about 12,000 years ago.  This would have been the view from the top of Mt. Timpanogas looking south.  Water is filling much of Provo Canyon, at the bottom of the image.  The lake waters would have covered the parking lot at the mouth of Rock Canyon, upper right of image.  (Illustration by Eric Robeck)
