Field Trips

Activities/Calendar Field Trips Presidency/Members Awards Banquet Lectures AAPG

One of the main (and favorite) activities of the BYU Geology Club is fieldtrips.  We like to travel both to areas where we can collect rocks and to areas we can't (like some of the amazing national parks close by).  Utah is an ideal place for collecting amazing rock and mineral specimens; there are many old mining areas and spectacular collecting sites within a half-day's drive from campus.  We hike, camp, and generally get dusty and dirty while getting acquainted with Mother Nature.  Smaller field trips include visits to museums, mines, and businesses related to geology and environmental industries.
