How to print to different printers and access printer settings

The Geology Department's computer labs have several printers that can be used to print documents.  These printers are located in several different rooms, but may be printed to from any lab computer.  The default printer for each computer is set to be the same for each lab, but you have the option to print to any other printer in case the printer(s) in your lab are down.  If you send a print job and it does not appear in the printer you expected, make sure the following settings are correct and that you didn't print to another printer.
The following steps are common for most windows applications, although the drivers may vary slightly between different applications and types of printers.

To select the printer you wish to print to:

Go to your application's 'File' 'Print' command.

The default printer will be listed in the 'Printer' 'Name:' field.  The other printer options may vary between applications.
Use the drop down box to select the desired printer.
In most cases, all desired settings can be made in the previous dialog box.  If advanced settings are necessary, you may access the printer driver dialog by choosing the 'Properties' box next to the printer name.  It will open the advanced settings dialog box.  The available options will vary greatly between various printers.  Please ask if you need assistance beyond this point.
